On November 27th there will be an open house party celebrating Lt. Col.(Ret) William Todd’s 90th birthday. The community is invited to come by the home of “Poppa” between 3 and 5pm at 1806 Old Settlement Road Round Rock, Texas.

Bill Todd has been a part of the Round Rock community since the mid 1970s. He was awarded the title “Local Legend” for his service on several committees with the Round Rock Chamber of Commerce; as one of the founders of St Richard’s Episcopal Church; and as a folklorist at the pioneer cabin in Wells Branch. Mr. Todd has also been a contributor to the annual Texas Folklife Festival for over 25 years.

It’s that time of year again and for all you hard-working home decorators, we’ve got a fun contest to reward and recognize you. Join in the holiday spirit by trimming your yard and house with lights and holiday decor. To compete in the contest, just email a picture* of your home to tammy@familypair.com. Pictures must be in .jpg format and no larger than 900K in size (so that they may be displayed on our website).

The contest is free to enter and open to all Wells Branch residents (home must be located in Northwest or Wells Branch elementary school boundary). The deadline to submit photos is 12:00amCST on 12/15/09. Please include your address so that your home may be included on the Wells Branch Tour of Lights map should your home be a winner.
For a quick and easy way to resize your photos to meet the proper size requirement, check this website: www.picresize.com. If you have any problems reducing the size of your photo, please contact us as we don’t want this to be a barrier for any submissions.

Wells Branch Thanksgiving Potluck 2008
Nov 22, 2008 Sat 5 – 7pm
The Wells Branch Staff is throwing the Annual Wells Branch Thanksgiving Potluck. This years event will consist of great food, live music, friendly neighbors, and a dedication to Wells Branch residents. The Thanksgiving Dinner event will be held at the Wells Branch Community Center.
The dedication will be around the dedication grove around 4:30pm. The dedication will be for Wells Branch residence in memory and achievements through award pavers. Immediately following the dedication the yearly potluck dinner will be served.
Wells Branch MUD will be providing the traditional Thanksgiving items which include turkey, ham, dressing, potatoes, bread, and beverages. Wells Branch neighbors are welcome to bring their favorite dish, with the recommended serving be for 10.
This Wells Branch event will also have live music. Returning is ‘The Generic Bluesgrass Band’ who is always a crowd pleaser. The band plays acoustic bluegrass music, which will entertain young and old.
Bring your friends and family to meet your Wells Branch neighbors through this community building event!
The Wells Branch Neighborhood Association will hold their annual National Night Out anti-crime campaign on Oct 7th at 6pm. The event will be held at the pavilian at Katherine Fleischer Park by the Wells Branch Homestead located at 2106 Klattenhoff. This event is geared towards combatting crime by the organization of members of the community. By bringing Wells Branch members together in community events like this builds strong bonds and relationships which inturn will drive neighboors to look out for one another and reduce local crime.
This even will have free food, friendly neighboors, and members from the Travis County Sheriff’s Department to explain crime fighting tips and instruction.

6th Annual Travis County Sheriff Extravaganza at Wells Branch
This is a Wells Branch event not to miss with free food, entertainment, clowns, magicians, a moonwalk, the K-9 dog, a fire truck, a Star Flight helicopter, prizes and more!
The Travis County Sheriff Department will host the 6th Annual Community Extravaganza on Oct 4th from 11am to 4pm at the Wells Branch MUD complex located at 3000 Shoreline Dr. The Travis County Sheriff’s Office in association with the Wells Branch MUD holds this outreach effort on a yearly basis to help Wells Branch and Travis County residents become more familiar with the Travis County Sheriff’s Department, it’s staff, and officers.
Sheriff Greg Hamilton will be present to greet attendees and host the event. In addition, various members from the Travis County SWAT team, the K-9 unit, and Motorcycle and Lake Patrol Units will be giving presentations and demonstrations. Star Flight, EMS, and the Fire Department will also be attending to show the community the fire engine and emergency helicopter.

Halloween Haunted House & Kiddy Korner

Wells Branch is hosting the yearly Halloween Haunted House at the Katherine Fleischer Park & Wells Branch Homestead located at 14611 Wells Port Dr on Halloween night. The Haunted House is geared to scare all ages. The Haunted House is set up in the old wooden Wells Branch Homestead which makes the event a little bit spookier. For the younger goblins, there is Kiddy Korner which caters to the not ready for scare time kids. There are normally silly characters, kids games, candy, fun prizes, and a non-spooky haunted house.
Young or old, the Wells Branch Halloween Haunted House is a great way to finish up your Halloween night to experience a few more frights and Halloween candy.
Yearly Wells Branch Youth Fishing Tournament
Oct, 11 2008 Saturday 9am to Noon
The Wells Branch Community is having it’s annual youth fishing tournament for kids from 17 yro and under. The even will be at Mills Pond from 9am until noon. Youth enrollment is free with trophies and prizes to be awarded. Wells Branch Tournament sponsors will provide entertainment and refreshments at no charge. For those who do not have a fishing poles, hooks, or bait, equipment and supplies will be provided. All of Wells Branch’s ponds strictly enforce a catch and release policy, however this policy will be suspended for the youth fishing even only. Please note all state fishing regulations apply.
A member hint: It is widely known by Wells Branch residents that minnows are the best bait for the pond at Mills Pond.
The Wells Branch Fire Station : Travis County ESD #2 will be holding an open house to show Travis county residents the ins and outs, including demonstrations of the ESD’s Fire Safety House and Fire Engines.
Brings the kids as the ESD’s High Tech Fire Engine will be displayed and demonstrated. This is a great way to teach kids about fire safety and the dangers of fire.
The Fire Station Open House will be held at Fire Station #2 on Oct 14th from 6:30pm to 8pm, located at Bratton Lane and Shoreline Dr in Wells Branch. The fire station is located next to the Wells Branch MUD office.
